Historical Hotel Lobby

This is an attempt to use one of my old charcoal drawing of school corridor as a reference point and paint a concept art depicting an old historical hotel lobby. I started this couple of months ago but I wasn't sure what it should look like. My recent trip to a historical city and tour of a heritage hotel helped. I don't think I am done yet. I want to add grandeur to it... may be by adding props and perhaps a chandelier! Not too sure...

Drawing at the Met
This was a real beauty!! I enjoyed so much drawing this perfect marble figurine. Best thing about drawing from statue is that it won't get tired being in same position and I can go back again to finish or fix the problems in my drawing. And they are perfect in proportions too. I used light pencil here (and not my favorite Vine Charcoal) because I wanted to keep its look soft and gentle. Bottom part looks weird because there was some rock and bushes kind of structure in front of her legs and I could not finish it. There were so many visitors at the museum, I did not finish shading either.

Row House, Van Vorst Park, JC
My Favorite row house in our neighborhood across a beautiful park. Tried to capture its character. I did careful drawing on site but shading is purely imaginary. I used vine charcoal. I usually blend by my fingers but this was relatively small drawing. I have yet to buy blending stump but meanwhile I used ear bud for same purpose. Worked just fine! I rarely plan on how to use blank paper before start drawing. This is one of that rareness, I am glad I did!
